First Overnight, Part II
Well the v-berth cushion was a brilliant idea. We slept very comfortably once we tetris-ed ourselves into the triangle feet-first. We put a couple PFDs under the cushion at our heads because we forgot to bring pillows, and it worked out pretty well. Pillows are only tentatively on the "next time" list becauase we could probably do just fine without them.
In the morning we noticed some condensation over the v-berth, because we'd closed the hatch at some point during the night, so on the to-do list is make or buy some sort of screen for the opening, so we can keep it opening without being vulnerable to bugs or light rain (which we had).
Oliver slept up in the cockpit on his blanket and didn't make a peep. We kept the canvas ceiling thing up so he would have some shelter, and we kept a fan blowing at us for the sake of air circulation.
We kinda jacked around a bit in the morning, I did maybe a half hour of haphazard organizing below, and then sat up top and knit for a while while Brian scrubbed crap off the forward part of the boat, whatever that's called. What do people do while docked on a boat? This part felt pretty useless.
Brian did notice in walking around the marina that there's a station we could motor over to that has both a hose for cleaning the boat with clean water, and some waste disposal stations for boats' on board "bathrooms". He worked up top and I stayed in the cockpit to get the floor there scrubbed. I only sprayed water inside like maybe twice and it looks much better up there now.
After lunch (Wendy's) I took a nap and Oliver kept watch above. I don't know what it is about the sun and heat that just wipes me out. I foresee a lot of napping on this boat.
While I was asleep, I left my shoes up top to dry off after my earlier cockpit scrubbing, and one of my shoes blew off the boat into the water. Luckily Brian heard the plop into the water and got a chance to try out the boat hook.
That was most of the day. We went back up around 4 because we'd done all we were going to do for the weekend and of course on the way home I started planning for our next trip down.
When we got home I put a big rubbermaid tub in the garage specifically to put boat things in as we find them around the house, so next time we come down we'll just need to bring personal items and grab the tub, and it'll be all packed.
So far we've added:
Unfortunately this is a busy month, so it may be a couple weeks before we make it back down.

The cushions under me also doubled as our pillows, and are buoyant in case one of us (me) falls overboard. |

I think this is a "my girlfriend is so cool she'll scrub the boat without being asked" picture. |

What is life? Who am I? What is my purpose? Why do they keep collecting my poop? |

So far we've added:
- Command hooks and bungee cords
- The quilt we decided we could sacrifice to the elements
- Citronella candles
- Dog poop bags
- Plastic bags for trash
- Sunblock that hopefully won't turn me orange
Unfortunately this is a busy month, so it may be a couple weeks before we make it back down.
